Romans 12:2 “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will.
I've been thinking about this verse a lot lately, mostly on the word "transform." If I change my shirt or even my hair color, I'm still the same person. I've just made some little changes to myself, that's all. But if I were to transform as this passage suggests, what would that look like? It seems to me that a transformation is a complete alteration, like going from a caterpillar to a butterfly. If I start to be a person who imitates Christ in every single little area of life, I'd say that's a pretty big transformation. And as my mind transforms to think along God's patterns instead of the world's patterns, then I'll know what God's will is for my life, which He promises is good, pleasing and perfect. That's what I want and it starts with one alteration in my life at a time.
