Spending More Time Reading God's Word

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

I don't know about you, but if I found a double-edged sword lying around somewhere, the first thing I'd do is pick it up and start playing with it! I'd hack at tall grass, show it to all my friends and put pictures of it on Facebook. One thing is for sure: I would not walk by it and try to ignore the sword as it collects dust. The Bible describes itself as a double-edged sword. It also describes itself as living and active. If the Bible is so alive and is such a great tool, why do so many people, even Christians, ignore it? Maybe it's because they're afraid of what might happen if they actually start studying it. Maybe the last part of the verse might actually happen and people don't want to face their thoughts and attitudes and be convicted of the need for change. Is that why you sometimes ignore your Bible?

Why don't YOU spend more time in the Word? How often do you actually read your Bible? Why don't you often spend more time than you do?
